Job Details

  • Position: Driver Messenger
  • Location: Head Office, Johannesburg
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Closing Date: 14 February 2025
  • Salary: R183,279 per annum (plus benefits) – Level 4

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Grade 10 or an equivalent certificate.
  • Work Experience: At least one year of relevant experience in transportation or messenger services.
  • Driver’s License: A valid South African drivers license is mandatory.
  • Confidentiality Skills: Ability to handle sensitive documents and information discreetly.
  • Communication Skills: Proficiency in verbal and written communication, along with professional phone etiquette.
  • PDP License: Having a Professional Driving Permit (PDP) will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

1. Transportation of Goods and Personnel

  • Operating light and medium-sized vehicles to transport personnel and departmental documents.
  • Delivering confidential materials to designated locations within stipulated timeframes.

2. Vehicle Maintenance and Compliance

  • Conducting regular inspections of the assigned vehicle.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues or damages immediately.
  • Ensuring the vehicle is clean and roadworthy at all times.

3. Office and Messenger Services

  • Collecting and delivering important documents, parcels, and other departmental materials.
  • Maintaining daily records of deliveries and tracking document movement.
  • Copying, scanning, packaging, binding, and faxing essential paperwork as required.

4. Mail Distribution & Record-Keeping

  • Managing the distribution of mail across various departments daily.
  • Keeping accurate logs of received and dispatched documents.
  • Confirming successful deliveries and ensuring signatures are recorded where necessary.

5. Ad Hoc Administrative Support

  • Assisting office staff with minor clerical duties when required.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the department’s supervisors.
