Job Description

Guarantee thorough customer service in the store. Manage stock merchandising, shelf price labeling, and maintain cleanliness within the assigned area of responsibility.

Requirements: General Assistants Vacancies

  • Minimum educational requirement of Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with one year of relevant work experience, or Grade 12 with no related work experience.
  • Proficiency in English and the primary language spoken in the region where the job is located.
  • Possession of a valid South African ID or work permit.
  • Competence in performing basic arithmetic accurately.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • The capacity to deal with stressful work environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Service to Customers

  • Provide guidance and support to customers regarding appropriate products and their questions.
  • Help address and resolve customer complaints effectively.

Merchandising Guidelines

  • Ensure the bulk stock area is organized and merchandised safely in line with the store’s layout plan.
  • Confirm that your designated area of responsibility is fully merchandised according to the store layout and planograms.

Housekeeping

  • Keep your area clear of obstacles, promptly merchandise stock upon receipt, and ensure customers can safely and comfortably enter and exit your aisle without risk of injury or frustration.
  • Maintain accurate shelf price labeling within your assigned area.
  • Complete the required checklist while on duty, adhering to the canteen and toilet/shower schedule as needed.

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements (e.g., wearing safety gear, ensuring the safety of customers and staff) within your assigned area.
  • Confirm that stock in your area of responsibility (racking and bulk) is merchandised in a way that allows customers and colleagues to move safely throughout the store.
  • Notify the Store Manager of any issues or discrepancies.

Manage Stock Loss

  • Inform the Store Manager about any damaged stock within your designated area of responsibility.

  • Meets established targets and completes tasks accurately and to the required standard.
  • Provides work that aligns with the company’s best practice quality and standards.
  • Demonstrates dedication to fulfilling commitments.
