Department: Integrated Business Operations Services Section: Depot Operations Designation: Bus Operator (Bus Driver)
Remuneration: B4 / T7 (Salary Grade)
Location: Metrobus Depots THE PURPOSE To safely and reliably transport commuters to various destinations on time, following correct routes and abiding by road and traffic regulations. ELIGIBILITY Matric; (Standard 10) /Grade 12/ NQF level 4 plus, Valid Driver’s License code EC1/04 or EC, C. Valid Professional Drivers Permit. Minimum five (5) years experience driving heavy-duty vehicles or Heavyduty Public Bus Transportation utilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct pre and post-trip bus inspections. Follow sign-on procedures at the bus dispatch office. Operate assigned shift according to the approved schedule. Collect approved fares and issue tickets for distance traveled. Submit all collected fares daily. Adhere to safety regulations and traffic rules. Provide timetable and route information to passengers. Display accurate destination information. Ensure overall bus safety and hygiene.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Effective oral and written communication skills. Customer service focus. Knowledge of greater Johannesburg’s geography. Ability to assist physically challenged commuters. Honesty, punctuality, and integrity.
